Asia, Exotic River Cruising, Yangtze River, China, Mekong River, Vietnam, Cambodia, Irrawaddy River, Myanmar, "The Big Three," Ganges River

The continent of Asia includes the Yangtze River in China, the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia, and the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar also referred to as “The Big Three,” and the Ganges River in India These rivers each bring their own unique adventure to those who choose to take a river cruise in replace of trains, taxis, and planes. Seeing a foreign place by river is truly extraordinary. You can expect to see many of the continent’s most popular places stretched across several countries without the fuss of creating your own itinerary.

Yangtze River

The Yangzte is the longest river in Asia going across the entire length of China, reaching the top of the Tibetan Plateau, and ending in the East China Sea close by Shanghai. During a tour down the Yangzte, you will get the pleasant sights of The Bund or Waitan, a waterfront region in central Shanghai. Aboard your cruise, you can also expect to pass through bamboo forests and have opportunities to experience acrobatic shows and up-close views of the Three Gorges Dam.

Mekong River

Also starting in the Tibetan Plateau is the Mekong River which stretches 2,700 miles to the South China Sea. The Mekong might not be as long as the Yangtze but it is full of hidden gems including temples, markets, and monasteries. Take pleasure in all the wildlife as well as your stops in Cambodia and Vietnam. Depending on the cruise you may even make stops in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Siem Reap to see historical sites and ancient temples.

Irrawaddy River

The Irrawaddy River also known as the Road to Mandalay connects all of Myanmar’s greatest destinations before reaching the Indian Ocean. On a cruise down the Irrawaddy, you will see villages, temples, markets, monasteries, and cave pagodas as well as the river’s largest tributary the Chindwin.

Ganges River

The Ganges River in India is known for its river cruises due to the magical, spiritual, and beautifully colored sights that it presents to those who choose to explore the nation by ship. During a cruise on the Ganges, you’ll make your way to many monuments, historical sites, temples, colonial buildings, and marketplaces. This Third World kind of tour will also give you insight into the hardships of those native to the land while showcasing stunning landscapes all the way through.
